English Language Assistant
Servus!
My name is Joseph Bradshaw, and the current English Language Assistant at the Gymnasium Stockerau. It has been such a joy to live and learn here in Austria over the last year two years, and to be immersed in the culture for that time! A little about me, I graduated from Boise State University in the USA with a degree in German and a minor in Latin, along with a TESOL certificate. Needless to say, I am thrilled to be here in a German-speaking nation and putting my degrees to good use. Austria and Stockerau have so much to offer, and I look forward to discovering something new every day.
The human impact of the job is my primary motivation each day. By interacting with the students, I feel as though I am having a true impact on their education, and it’s always so much fun to help them along their way. When I think of the language games we play, the interesting conversations we have, and the valuable time we use to give them real world language experience, the best word which comes to mind is satisfaction. There has been no job or career prospect in my life so far which has been as fulfilling as teaching now is.
The teachers at the Gymnasium Stockerau deserve all the praise, not just for doing their jobs excellently, but also for taking me under their wing and teaching me the way they do things. Their guidance and advice have been invaluable in developing my abilities as a teacher, and I am eternally grateful to them. It’s not easy moving to a foreign nation, but the teaching staff at Stockerau have made it the best possible experience, and I look forward to returning the favor. Thanks should especially be given to the English teachers Petra, Steffi, Victoria, Regina, Anna, and all the other for their patience and guidance.
It has been a dream come true to have the opportunity to live here in Austria, and to experience the world from the perspective of its people. The honor is truly mine to live and work with such a wonderful and dedicated group of people, whose excellence shines through in everything they do!
